Self-Talk of Hinduism

A lot of times I feel like Arjuna in many of the things I have to do such as homework, sports, chores, work, etc. Arjuna had a responsibility to protect his land and battle for his army even though he didn’t want to, but it was his duty just like it is my duty to do things I don’t want to do such as homework and chores.

The Bhagavad Gita apply’s to my comic because I had to go against my desires in order to complete my duty. In the end I felt better about doing it. This could be interpreted as an analogy to having to do your duty in order to enjoy life after death.

The 21st century American view of doing your duty now a days is the idea that you will gain something more materialistic compared to the Bhagavad Gita view of doing your duty which focuses more on the spiritual reward after death.

The Bhagavad Gita could be used as a means of oppression by assigning certain groups of people unwanted jobs that correlate to low stations of life. They can also assign other groups of people leadership-like roles to rule over other individuals. By doing all this, it could possibly create the concept of a strict caste system.

Taoist Walk

The most powerful sensation I felt during the walk was a sense of stillness and tranquility. I have actually run on this path before because I am on the cross country team and I ran it at a home meet. Going through this path again did indeed feel different then the last time due to the fact that this time I wasn’t struggling to breathe. I heard many sounds on the walk such as birds chirping, twigs crackling, and critters scurrying through the brush. There was a distinct smell of earthiness on the walk which was expected since we were in the woods. During the walk I didn’t think about anything, which is rare for me, I just let my mind go blank. It was also pretty cold on the walk so I felt pretty cold. I believe this relates to Taoism because I was really in tune with my surroundings and I really felt one with nature.

Feng Shui your Room

Before

After

Now that I have Feng Shuied my room, chi can flow freely throughout it without any obstructions in the blocking its way. The result of doing this to my room has made it feel more spacious and more accessible to things I need without searching throughout the cluttered mess. As for the elements, there are two elements that stand out the most in my room and those elements would be fire and earth. You can notice the element of fire by the look of my rug, blanket, and comforter. You can spot the element of earth when looking at my chair, wall, and comforter. I didn’t really understand how i’m supposed to honor the Bagua but i do have some of the elemental colors on the Chart.

Poster and Timeline Blog Post

My position was Nationalist and i chose “The Three Stages of Revolution” primary source. The bottom left is a picture of a man named Yuan Shikai who was president of China who ruled with an iron hand until he died in 1916. The top left is a picture of a man named Sun Yat-Sen who had a Nationalist party that he’d hope bring unity, coherence and an effective government back to China. The bottom right picture represents the period of destruction. The picture in the top left represents the reconstruction.

Brazilian Culture

For my blog post I did a collage pictures that represent Brazilian culture. As you can see at the bottom left there is a carnival going on. Every year Brazil hosts a carnival held between the Friday afternoon (51 days before Easter) and Ash Wednesday at noon. The also love interesting dishes such as Bauru, Arabu, Balinho, Cabidela, Chana and many other delicious dishes. And of course who could forget about Brazil’s love for soccer

1182 Chinese Art

An afternoon in the Rockys. This landscape was captured midday in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado on August 8, 2016

• The inner spirit of nature that is represented in this image is a sense of powerfulness and a strong feeling of distinction with its size and beauty.

•  the message that i think this landscape could be giving out would be “preservation,” which could mean to basically maintain the landscape and take precautions so it may not be harmed.

• I selected this image because this was a photo taken on vacation when i was spending time with my family and we were over 8,000 feet up so it was cool
